Harrods Womenswear

David Collins Studio’s design for Harrods’ Women’s Department sets a new standard in luxury retail, blending timeless elegance with contemporary sophistication. Through the use of opulent materials, carefully chosen colour palettes, and thoughtful spatial planning, each room—from Lingerie & Lounge to Designer Collections, Holiday and Occasion spaces—creates an immersive and harmonious shopping experience that celebrates both heritage and innovation.

With the new Harrods Lingerie & Lounge rooms, we wanted to create a soft and calming environment, one that feels comfortable and welcoming. Soft green tones of velvet, polished metals of gold and silver and shimmering textured glass all create a luxurious shopping experience. During the design process we carefully considered the customer journey at every step, ensuring ease of navigation across product categories and from one Lingerie room to the next. Our intention was to create carefully considered focal points and sightlines across the rooms whilst ensuring the shopper felt protected with a certain level of privacy whilst shopping.

Fine and couture women’s clothing has always been an important inspiration for us, so to be able to create the ultimate home for these pieces is such a privilege. We want to embrace the warmth of a private lounge, the glamour of the event, whilst respecting the heritage of Harrods as a building and a brand. This department really will be unique in feeling, whilst understated in its elegance.

David Collins Studio’s design for Harrods’ Women’s Department blends a harmonious balance of contemporary luxury and timeless elegance, utilizing colour, texture, and carefully crafted materials to elevate the shopping experience. The overarching theme of these spaces is one of sophistication, where luxurious detailing, curated colour palettes, and tactile materials come together to create an immersive environment. Across lingerie, designer collections, holiday, occasion rooms, as well as the jewellery rooms and Shoe Heaven, colour plays a crucial role in defining each space, from calming teal greens and coral hues to rich plum, burnt orange, and sunshine yellow accents.

In the Lingerie & Lounge rooms, a serene atmosphere is evoked with velvet upholstery, smoked glass, and shimmering textures in soft green and gold, providing a sense of luxury while respecting the heritage of Harrods. The Designer Collections spaces introduce a mix of soft champagne, deep plum, and gold tones alongside intricate metalwork, reflecting an ambiance of exclusivity. Unique features such as bespoke marble floors, sculptural furniture, and dynamic ceiling designs enhance the rooms’ premium feel, creating focal points while maintaining fluidity in the layout.

The Holiday and Occasion rooms take cues from nature, with open-pored travertine, woven wall coverings, and geometric marble floors contributing to the relaxed yet opulent poolside and eveningwear aesthetics. The Holiday space, in particular, emphasizes warmth and light with pops of yellow, while the Occasion room brings a refined residential feel with reflective surfaces, luxurious velvet seating, and subtle lighting. These spaces are designed with comfort and privacy in mind, offering ample seating, intimate fitting rooms, and clever use of reflective and textured materials.

Additionally, the jewellery rooms and Shoe Heaven continue this exploration of refined luxury, incorporating polished surfaces, custom fixtures, and strategic lighting to showcase high-end products, further establishing Harrods as a destination for the most prestigious fashion and accessories.
