The London West Hollywood
Following the success of The London NYC and opening in 2008, the David Collins Studio-designed hotel for The Blackstone Group in what was previously the Bel Age Hotel. The London West Hollywood brings the style and aspirations of Beverly Hills to West Hollywood. Launching with 223 suites, rooftop pool and fitness centre and Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood, the hotel follows the architectural and design vocabulary defined by its sister hotel in New York. The lobby centres around a hand-stitched silk map of the Hollywood Hills.
At 550 bedrooms together with public areas, a bar and two restaurants, the hotel was a substantial commitment and David Collins Studio worked to create a completely new hotel concept called The London NYC...... On the strength of the New York hotel a second hotel, The London West Hollywood was commissioned, to develop the concept piloted at The London NYC. Again David Collins Studio worked with a commercial structure to develop a beautiful hotel that references the cinematic history and glamour of Los Angeles in a contemporary and sophisticated way.

The London West Hollywood is exactly what you picture when dreaming of a stay in Los Angeles. The London is all sophistication without any stuffiness – making it worthy of becoming your go-to or a special occasion splurge.

The London in West Hollywood will bring the style and aspirations of Beverley Hills to the more contemporary feel of West Hollywood.” explains David Collins. “Our design concept will be focusing on luxury. We are completely reinventing the old building, transforming it into a present day take on glamour. It will be modern, in the sense that it will provide great service, great rooms and dining – but there will be a hint of nostalgia and ‘old Hollywood’ too. The new hotel is set to offer some of the most beautiful rooms in Los Angeles.

Following the success of The London NYC, the first collaboration between David Collins Studio and The Blackstone Group, The London West Hollywood opened in 2008, transforming the former Bel Age Hotel into a sophisticated retreat that brings the style and aspirations of Beverly Hills to West Hollywood. This landmark project showcases the refined design language established at its sister property, reimagined to embrace California’s unique energy and glamour.
The hotel features 223 expansive suites, a rooftop pool and fitness centre, and Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood, each space embodying a seamless blend of luxury and modernity. A striking focal point of the lobby is a hand-stitched silk map of the Hollywood Hills, a nod to the hotel’s setting and a continuation of the signature design vocabulary established in New York. Recapturing the elegance of Hollywood’s Golden Age, the hotel balances timeless grandeur with a contemporary, residential atmosphere, complete with richly veined marble, bleached oak finishes, and bespoke furnishings.
In 2014, David Collins Studio returned to design the Gate Suites, a collection of five exclusive accommodations located on the ninth floor. Inspired by London’s Hyde Park, each suite takes its name from one of the park’s iconic gates—Victoria, Alexandra, Elizabeth, Apsley, and Curzon—and reflects their aristocratic heritage. The suites, spanning 70 square metres each, feature a refined palette of blues inspired by the California sky, complemented by tactile materials such as velvet, leather, and mosaic marble. Bespoke furniture, evolving the designs originally created for the hotel, is paired with artwork developed in collaboration with British artists Alexander Innes and Eleanor Cunningham, evoking the timeless allure of British craftsmanship.
The London West Hollywood has received numerous accolades, including “USA’s Hotel of the Year” in the World’s Best Awards 2010 and “The World’s Best Business Hotel” in 2009. As a defining example of David Collins Studio’s ability to merge design and hospitality, the hotel continues to be a beacon of luxury, offering a quintessentially Californian experience imbued with understated elegance and meticulous attention to detail.
