Owner's Villa at Delaire Graff Estate

The Owner's Villa at Delaire Graff Estate, designed by David Collins Studio, seamlessly blends colour palettes inspired by the landscape with bespoke furnishings, the artwork collection of Mr Laurence Graff OBE, and panoramic vineyard views.

The overall design of the four bedroom villa has also been designed by London’s David Collins Studio to be as visually arresting as the art. The ceilings are constructed of 200 year old French oak and are complemented by textured wall coverings. The rooms are designed in colours reflecting the African landscape with a mix of African antiques and pieces by European designers such as Jean Michel Frank and Christian Liaigre.

Every element, every nuance, every detail exemplifies a pursuit of craft, an obsession with perfection and a devotion to beauty – the Owner’s Villa at Delaire Graff Estate truly is my home away from home in South Africa’s Cape Winelands.

Mr Laurence Graff OBE

Marrying design classics, colour and texture with historic and modern African art, a Villa has been created that encapsulates the world of Delaire Graff Estate. The space has been designed with relaxation and entertainment front of mind, allowing guests to feel instantly at one with the majestic landscape. Where possible, regional craftsmanship has been embraced, bringing a soft and subtle luxury to the interiors, embodying everything that the Estate stands for.

Providing guests with luxury and elegance on a grand scale, the private, fully-serviced, four-bedroom Owner’s Villa at Delaire Graff Estate offers an incomparable sanctuary.

Inspired by African colour palettes and patterns, complemented by European touches, the Villa spans 660 square metres and accommodates up to eight guests. Bespoke materials and elegant soft furnishings contrast with walls adorned with original artworks from some of Africa’s most celebrated artists, selected by Laurence Graff from his private collection.

A dramatic timber front door opens to the lobby, which serves as a gallery space with expansive walls that display an evolving collection of artwork. The walls feature a textured, neutral horizontal stripe pattern, with a custom bronze mirror above a locally crafted console flanked by curved alabaster wall lights.

An impressive 6.6-metre double-height living and dining space is accessed through large timber double doors, separated by a double-sided bronze-clad fireplace. A locally sourced antique African bench sits by the fire, while the timber ceiling is lined with 200-year-old French oak slats and solid oak trusses, from which hang two white plaster chandeliers commissioned by Alexandre Logé.

The walls are covered in fine-textured ivory linen, while the curtains feature oyster linen and linen sheers, contrasted by a hand-woven African chevron motif fabric. The furniture, designed by Vladimir Kagan, includes a large organic serpentine sofa in burnt orange Loro Piana fabric, Kagan barrel armchairs in ivory boucle, a dark timber and Nero Marquina coffee table by Charlotte Perriand, and custom side tables by Atang Tshikare.

Leading from the living room is a family room with a neutral palette of silver, grey, and mink, contrasted by burnt orange. The dining room features green leather chairs by Holly Hunt, a Christian Liaigre dining table, and a Jean-Michel Frank console, anchored by a hand-knotted wool rug in African fern-chevron motifs.

The primary bedroom suite has dark fumed oak flooring and a hand-knotted rug. The bed is upholstered in dusky-pink ombre fabric, with a Christian Liaigre bench and Kagan armchairs flanking the fireplace.
