The Apartment at The Connaught

Perched atop The Connaught, The Apartment is an extraordinary 285-square-metre penthouse suite designed as the rarefied private sanctuary of a refined collector. With sweeping views over Mayfair, this serene retreat offers a seamless blend of sophisticated design and cultivated luxury. Fusing bespoke craftsmanship, carefully curated artworks, and iconic mid-century and Art Deco influences, the apartment is a masterclass in curated elegance.

The Apartment at The Connaught has built up a loyal following of 12 regular guests from the Far East, the Middle East and the United States: people love the suite. The apartment is running at a 70% occupancy rate throughout the year at a nightly rate of £8,500, which is higher than other penthouse suites in London. In fact, one problem we have is that as it is often occupied with regular guests, new guests cannot get in to view or book the suite. The feedback I have had consistently from guests and our peers alike is that the suite is the best we have in the city.

Nathalie Seiler-Hayez, General Manager, The Connaught Hotel

We wanted to create a home from home for an art connoisseur who wants to feel like they are in a carefully curated environment, which has been designed as a residence, if you like. That’s why we call it the "Apartment." Everything within the "Apartment" – from the bed linen to the bedside tables to the dressing table – has been made to reflect the attention to detail and the invisible service that is part of the Connaught.

You think this is a wonderful discreet home as opposed to a hotel.

Mark-Rhodes Jones, Director of Guest Relations, The Connaught Hotel

Set atop The Connaught and suffused with natural light, The Apartment offers panoramic views over Mayfair, presenting a serene retreat within London’s bustling heart. Created for The Maybourne Hotel Group, this 285-square-metre penthouse suite is designed as the private home of a collector, offering a glimpse into the private world of cultured luxury. With two bedrooms and en suite marble bathrooms, a private dining room, a double-height drawing room crafted into the hotel’s eaves, and a private balcony, The Apartment is a testament to bespoke design and refinement.

The design embodies the curatorial sensibility of an urbane connoisseur, weaving handcrafted, artisan elements with commissioned artworks and furnishings. The furniture evokes the spirit of 20th-century and Art Deco design masters, including Paul Dupré-Lafon, Paul Evans, and Marc Duplantier, blending sophistication with timeless craftsmanship. The understated palette of heathery blues, Prussian blues, and ocean greys is elevated by metallic accents and rich textures. At the heart of the drawing room lies a richly veined white marble fireplace with lavender hues and bronze accents, crowned by an artisan plaster chandelier by Philippe Anthonioz, reminiscent of the one in the Musée Picasso, Paris.

Unexpected craft textures and lavender tones such as marl hand-woven Swedish rugs, studded silvered grass papers and painted linens, and ombre slubbed raw silk curtains, bring layers of tactility to the space evoking a deconstructed linen canvas, and further enhance the harmonious elegance of the interiors. Each room is accessorised with thoughtful and chic touches, including a library of Persephone books, adding to the suite’s residential sensibility.

Designed as a private haven, The Apartment merges loft proportions with intimate detailing, creating a space that feels simultaneously stately and personal. Intimate yet grand, it is a celebration of both The Connaught’s remarkable heritage and the contemporary art of living, delivering an unparalleled experience for the discerning traveller.
