Mirabella at Fontainebleau

Mirabella at Fontainebleau Miami showcases the bold primary colours and striking curves of Morris Lapidus’ iconic design, reimagining mid-century modernism with energy and style.

It’s always such a pleasure to return to one of our past interiors, to create something new. Mirabella is where I want to be in Miami. The design captures the fun, energy and quality that I associate with the beach front location, Fontainebleau hotel and Chef White. A feast for the eyes, an atmosphere of relaxed glamour, joy, and colour, nestled under planted canopies. Our relationship with Fontainebleau is a true collaboration and it is a privilege to be part of this historic project once again.

David Collins Studio transformed the former Scarpetta space, giving it a Caribbean coastal cottage feel with Serena & Lily woven rattan shades, Sika-Design bamboo outdoor furniture, and South African artist Lucie De Moyencourt’s hand-painted ceramic shells, which line the back wall. A pink-hued Lilypad chandelier by Lara Gonzalez makes a statement overhead, while Merida Studio’s blue-and-white-striped wool rugs add a nautical touch to the glass-enclosed terrace overlooking the ocean.

Designed by David Collins Studio, Mirabella takes over the former Scarpetta space inside the hotel, bringing together the vibe of Miami Beach with coastal Italy. The interior features custom furniture accented with red and blue lacquer, embossed leather upholstery, and brass detailing, all accented by Dedar’s hand-painted fabrics and Lucie De Moyencourt’s ceramic shells. The terrace offers ocean views under a canopy, with Serena & Lily shades and Sika Design furniture, while the bar features a unique mosaic and Dedar’s ombre curtains.

Situated at the base of the iconic Fontainebleau Miami Beach’s Sorrento Tower, Mirabella offers a vivid reinterpretation of coastal Italian glamour, blending the architectural legacy of Morris Lapidus with the vibrant energy of Miami. Designed by Lapidus in 1954, the Fontainebleau is a masterpiece of Miami Modern architecture, celebrated for its curvilinear forms and Neo-Baroque style. Appointed by Fontainebleau Development, Mirabella’s design pays homage to this architectural heritage while infusing the space with influences from the Amalfi Coast to create an atmosphere of relaxed sophistication.

Mirabella’s design concept celebrates colour and texture, embracing a primary palette of citronella yellow, scarlet red, and lapis blue. The dining room features custom furnishings, including lacquered tables with linen-laminated glass tops and embossed leather chairs, complemented by brass detailing. Four monumental architectural columns are clad in bespoke blue tiles, while South African artist Lucie De Moyencourt’s hand-painted ceramic shells adorn the back wall. Above, the striking Lilypad chandelier by Parisian designer Laura Gonzalez casts a soft glow over the space, echoing the playful yet refined aesthetic.

Terraces riotous with pattern and colour extend the dining experience outdoors. The rear terrace, framed by terracotta trellises and a bold yellow-and-white striped canopy, offers panoramic oceanfront views. Abundant planting mirrors Florida’s lush greenery, enhancing the sense of escapism.

The bar area features a black-and-white mosaic back wall, paired with café curtains in ombre off-white and pale yellow by Dedar, reinforcing the connection to Miami’s coastal landscape. High-gloss red lacquer ceilings add a touch of dramatic glamour, while metallic wallcoverings reflect light throughout the space, amplifying its energy.

Mirabella at Fontainebleau Miami Beach is a celebration of modern coastal elegance, where vibrant design meets the timeless allure of one of Miami’s most iconic destinations.
